Understanding Athelind's Argot: "So far, so good."
A man falls from the observation deck of the Empire State Building.

As he falls, people on each and every floor hear him say 'so far, so good' as he plummets by their windows.

It's almost a zen koan in its simple, elegant statement of universal truth.

That was in the book Ishamel by Daniel Quinn.

Among other places. It's an old, old bar joke, right up there with "Clark Kent, you are one mean drunk."

I should pick up Ishmael, though.

I wouldn't recommend it, actually. I thought it was a horrible book.

Heh, this wuff has been using that phrase since he was a cub! *grins* And yes, it is quite zen-like, as well a unreservedly upbeat. Qualities this wuffy strives to maintain.

And yet, we all know how it's going to end.

"...and I feel fine!"
