- The names of buildings and places at fictional U.C. Sunnydale are actual locations and buildings at real-life U.C. Santa Cruz.
This triggered a little light in the Attic O' Trivia that sits between my ears, so I checked, and sure enough...
From the IMDB trivia for The Lost Boys (1987):
- The amusement park scenes were filmed at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in California. This is the same park that appeared in _Brotherhood of Justice (1986)_ (also starring Kiefer Sutherland). The Boardwalk also was seen in the Dirty Harry sequel Sudden Impact (1983) and Harold and Maude (1971).
- Although the movie is clearly set in Santa Cruz, Ca (the Boardwalk and Pier are featured in several scenes) the city name given in the film is the-as far as I know-fictional Santa Carla. Apparently the Santa Cruz chamber of commerce was not keen on reviving the "Murder capital" moniker, which had been hung on Santa Cruz during a serial killer's rampage in the 70s.
I'm glad I wound up going to CSUMB instead of UC Santa Cruz.
